Citizen's Police Academy Training

The Atlanta Police Department will be having a APD Citizen's Academy on how things work within the department. This also allows you access to different investigative unit to ask questions and to do ride along with the officers in your neighborhoods. The classes are just on Tuesday nights from 6pm to 9pm starting September 7th to October 26th.

You must be (A) at least 21 years old, (B) a resident or (C) employee who works in Metropolitan Atlanta and be able to pass a background check.


The Atlanta Citizens Police Academy includes 24 hours of skilled and professional instruction delivered in three-hour sessions. Classes topics may include: Department Overview, Crime Lab procedures, 911 operations, Airport, Narcotics, Internal Affairs, Identity Theft, Use of Force, Active Shooter, SWAT visit, homicide investigations and more!

The Citizens Police Academy is held at Atlanta Police Headquarters, 226 Peachtree St. SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303 but does include off-site field trips.
